CHICAGO (STMW) — On Wednesday, a bald-headed man robbed a West Loop bank branch. By Friday, he may have caught Stanley Cup playoff fever, or he was trying to go unnoticed when he robbed a bank second bank, not far from the first, because this time he did so while wearing a Chicago Blackhawks cap.

The most recent robbery took place about 3:40 p.m. on Friday at the Chase Bank branch at 300 S. Riverside Plaza, police said. The man did not display or imply that he had a weapon, and nobody was hurt in the robbery, police said. He passed a note to a teller, then fled on foot, heading eastbound on Jackson Boulevard with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

Police described the man as a 6-foot tall, 190-pound white man about 40 years old, wearing a black Blackhawks baseball hat and a blue Chicago Bears shirt.

On Wednesday, the same man is believed to have robbed the Charter One Bank branch at 71 S. Wacker Dr., according to the FBI Chicago office.

That robbery occurred about 2:45 p.m. In that robbery he wore a black or navy hooded sweatshirt, but no hat. He did not show a weapon during the robbery.

Anyone who may have information about either of these robberies is asked to contact the FBI Chicago office, (312) 421-6700.

These were the 54th and 55th bank robberies in the Chicago area this year, according to the FBI. Last year there were 218.
