Man Dies After Back Of The Yards Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A northwest suburban man died Tuesday after he was shot multiple times by a man he had gotten into a heated argument with in an industrial area in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side, police said.

About 1:35 p.m., the man -- identified as Alberto Valencia of the 500 block of North Lakewood Terrace in Round Lake Heights, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office -- was embroiled in a heated argument with another man in the 4300 block of South Oakley Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Michael Sullivan said.

The other man took out a gun and shot the 45-year-old Valencia multiple times in the chest and head, Sullivan said.

Valencia was found in an alley with multiple gunshot wounds, according to the medical examiner's office.

He was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County where he died less than an hour later.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
