1 Killed, 1 Wounded In Dan Ryan Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) -- One person was killed and another was wounded in a shooting on the Dan Ryan Expressway on the city's South Side early Sunday, Illinois State Police said.

The shooting occurred between 1 and 1:10 a.m. on Interstate 94 just south of 71st Street, state police said.

Three people were travelling southbound in a car when two of them were shot. A man was killed and a female was being treated in "stable" condition at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn for a gunshot wound to the chest, state police said.

The man, identified as Fredrick Taylor, 27, of the 14000 block of South Atlantic Avenue in Riverdale, was pronounced dead at Christ at 3:14 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

A second male in the vehicle was unharmed, according to state police.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting were not immediately clear, state police said.
