(CBS) — An 18-year-old woman was fatally shot Monday in an apparent drive-by shooting in Englewood — one of several victims struck by gunfire across Chicago over a relatively short span of time.
Relatives identified the victim as April McDaniel, an aspiring singer and dancer. She and four others were shot around 5 p.m. in the 5700 block of South Sangamon Avenue. McDaniel, who was shot in the throat, was later pronounced dead at a hospital, authorities said.
Four males also were wounded in that incident: 21-year-old shot in the left leg; a 15-year-old shot in the right leg; an 18-year-old shot in the stomach; and a 20-year-old shot in the left hand and right knee.
