Thibodeau Named Assistant Coach For Team USA

(CBS) Two-time NBA coach of the year Tom Thibodeau will join Mike Krzyzewski's staff for the 2016 Olympics.

Thibodeau was named an assitant coach on the USA Basketball men's national team, along with Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim and New Orleans Pelicans coach Monty Williams.

"It's truly an honor," Thibodeau said. "I've been talking to Jerry Colangelo and Mike Krzyzewski, two Hall of Fame guys. And then to have the opportunity to represent our country in the Olympics in 2016 I'm thrilled. I'm very excited about it. I'm looking forward to working with all the great coaches and Derrick and the rest of the great players."

Under Krzyzewski, the USA men's team has won back-to-back Olympic championships with a 62-1 record. The 2016 Summer Olympic Games are set for Aug. 5-21 in Rio de Janeiro.
