School Bus Driver Shot In Hand On South Side

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A school bus driver was shot in the hand after gunfire rang out Wednesday afternoon in the South Side Washington Park neighborhood.

No one else was aboard the school bus, which was headed eastbound in the 300 block of East 61st Street when the driver heard gunfire, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.

The 61-year-old man pulled over and called for help. He was shot in the hand, and treated in good condition at University of Chicago Medical Center, Alfaro said.

No one is in custody as Area Central detectives investigate.
