Police: Man Climbs In Window, Rapes Girl In Albany Park

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police have issued a warning to Albany Park residents, after a girl was sexually assaulted by a man who climbed in her window over the weekend.

Sometime between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. on Sunday, a man snuck in through a bedroom window of a home in the 4800 block of North Ridgeway Avenue, and sexually assaulted an underage girl as she slept. People familiar with the case say the victim is a 13-year-old girl with a disability.

Police did not have a description of the suspect, but said they wanted local residents to be aware of the incident, and to alert their neighbors.

"I lock my doors. You know, I'm not going to change, because I already have security now," Phyllis Ryerson said. "It's a shame, though."

Barb Franzen said she would "be a little bit more cautious of my surroundings … and look out the window more often if I hear a noise."

Police said people should make sure to lock their windows and doors, and to call 911 to report suspicious activity.

Anyone with information on the incident should call Area North Detectives at (312) 744-8261.
