Rapper Lil Reese Charged With Theft Involving BMW

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Def Jam rapper Lil Reese was back in bond court Sunday for the second time in less than two months, this time charged with misdemeanor theft, the Sun-Times reports.

Cook County Judge Adam Bourgeois Jr. set bail at $5,000 for the 20-year-old Washington Park man whose real name is Tavares Taylor.

Court records said Taylor "presented false documentation to obtain" a 2006 BMW 750 Li on April 13. Neither police nor prosecutors could elaborate further on the case Sunday afternoon.

Lil Reese was taken into custody Saturday in the 10100 block of S. Halsted, according to an arrest report.

A friend of the legally troubled South Side rapper Chief Keef, Lil Reese was arrested just two months ago in Chicago after Champaign police identified him as the alleged attacker in a 2012 videotaped beating of a Downstate woman.

Court records show he has pleaded not guilty in that case.
