Auto Pound Fire Prompts HazMat Response

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A fire at a city auto pound prompted a HazMat response in the South Deering neighborhood on the South Side on Tuesday morning.

A Level 1 HazMat response was called for a working fire at the auto impound lot at 103th Street and Doty Avenue about 10:30 a.m., according to Fire Media Affairs.

The fire was extinguished and the HazMmat secured about 11:30 a.m., Fire Media Affairs said.

Unconfirmed dispatch reports said the fire started in a trailer, and may have involved a propane tank.

No one was reported injured.
