Elgin Man Wanted For Attempted Murder In Crystal Lake Double-Stabbing

CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill. (CBS) — A manhunt is underway by police in McHenry County for the ex-boyfriend of a woman left for dead this morning in her Crystal Lake home.

A 28-year-old woman and her new boyfriend were found before dawn suffering from multiple stab wounds at a home in the 1500 block of Royal Circle.

Crystal Lake Police Commander Dan Dziewior says the two were repeatedly stabbed. Investigators have are calling the situation domestic and have issued an arrest warrant for 30-year-old Jimmy Bell, the former longtime boyfriend of the victim.

“Some of the leads are indicating that he may be heading out of state and that he could be in route to Indiana or to Georgia. We are tracking down all leads that are coming our way at this point,” said Dziewior.

Bell, who lives in Elgin, is believed to be driving a red Honda Accord. Police warned he should be considered armed and extremely dangerous. Commander Dziewior says it is unclear what set off the attack.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts should call 911 or Crystal Lake police at (815) 356-3620.
