Man Killed In South Side Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was fatally shot Wednesday night on the South Side.

He was in the 2400 block of East 79th Street about 6:50 p.m. when a male gunman got out of a green car and started firing, police said.

The man, 24, was shot in the back and taken to Northwestern University Medical Center where he later died, police said.

The shooter fled in an unknown direction and is not in custody Wednesday night, police said.

Area South detectives are investigating.
