Dog Poop Puts Halt To Movies In Park

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Piles of poop are putting the brakes on an outdoor summer movie series.

Dog Poop Ruins Movies In The Park

According to DNAInfo.com, there is so much dog poop at Fulton River Park at Kinzie and Des Plaines that one of the main sponsors of the Movies in the Park event, Blommer Chocolate Co., has pulled its funding.

As a result, there will be fewer movies shown under the stars this summer.

WBBM Newsradio's Mike Krauser went to investigate.

He found the blissful smell of the nearby Blommer Chocolate factory mingling with the stench of dog excrement.

One dog owner at the park on Wednesday said the poop has indeed gotten out of hand.

"Truthfully, yes. Not all dog owners are responsible enough to pick up their dog's feces," she said. "I could see why people wouldn't want to come over here and sit in a park full of feces."
