Suspect Apprehended In Crystal Lake Home-Invasion, Stabbings

CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill. (CBS) – A suspect is in custody for the home invasion and stabbing attack that seriously injured two people in the northwest suburbs last week.

Jimmy Bell Jr., 30, of Elgin was arrested Monday afternoon in Tuscaloosa, Ala. at the home of a relative after a warrant was issued for his arrest on two counts of attempted homicide, Crystal Lake police said in a news release.

Authorities last week identified Bell as a suspect following a violent, domestic-related attack on two victims July 2.

Crystal Lake police responded early that morning to a residence in the 1500 block of Isle Royal Circle and found a 28-year-old female and her 23-year-old boyfriend suffering from multiple stab wounds. Both were transported to area hospitals in critical condition.

Bell, the ex-boyfriend of the female victim, was believed to have left the state of Illinois. He was apprehended at a cousin’s home in Alabama by local police and federal marshals on Monday afternoon. He currently being held in Tuscaloosa.

The female victim has been released from medical care, while the male victim was in stable condition, Crystal Lake police said.
