TV Station Reports Plane Crash Pilots Names As 'Wi Tu Lo', 'Ho Lee Fuk'

(CBS) It's hard to believe this actually happened, but evidently it did.

KTVU, a Bay Area FOX affiliate, thought they had learned the names of the pilots of Asiana flight 214, which crash landed last weekend in San Francisco. They ran with those names and reported them as: "Sum Ting Wong," "Wi Tu Lo," "Ho Lee Fuk," and "Bang Ding Ow".

The best part is that the anchor claimed the NTSB confirmed the names, which we're going to go ahead and assume didn't happen.

Following the blunder, the stations read the following statement on air:

Earlier in the newscast we gave some names of pilots involved in the Asiana Airlines crash. These names were not accurate despite an NTSB official in Washington confirming them late this morning. We apologize for the error.
