Man Killed In Humboldt Park Shooting
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was fatally shot early Saturday in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side.
The 25-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk near Le Moyne Street and Ridgeway Avenue about 1:50 a.m. when a male approached from an alley and opened fire, according to police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.
He was shot in the left side of his abdomen and taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, Alfaro said. He died at Stroger Hospital at 3:36 a.m., the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said.
The man was identified as 25-year-old Fernando Sanchez of the 3100 block of West Le Moyne Street, according to the medical examiner's office.
The shooting appeared to be gang-related, Alfaro said.
Nobody was in custody Saturday morning as Area Central detectives investigated.
