CHICAGO (CBS) -- One person was killed and five others suffered "non life-threatening" injuries in a four-car auto accident on the Southwest Side early Monday, police said.

The crash occurred in the 4200 block of South Cicero Avenue about 12:45 a.m., police said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office confirmed the fatality Monday morning but could not immediately provide information about the driver's age or gender.

The wounded were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, Rush University Medical Center and Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said.

The driver of the speeding vehicle is in police custody at Advocate Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, police said.
