CHICAGO (CBS) — Another Republican candidate has launched his campaign for Governor of Illinois reports WBBM Political Editor Craig Dellimore.
On North Magnolia in the shadow of Wrigley Field Hinsdale State Senator Kirk Dillard declared he is the Republican who can win a general election and make Illinois government work for the people again.
“Let me be clear: If it is not done by the time I get there, I will fix the pension mess and stop wasting $17 million a day in interest payments,” said Dillard.
He also talked about concerns of patronage at the Metra rail system.
“We need to blow up Metra’s board. We need to completely reexamine the way Metra is governed,” said Dillard.
Dillard says he doesn’t remember ever recommending anyone for a job or a promotion for Metra.
