(CBS) Following George Zimmerman’s acquittal of all charges in his trial for the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, Falcons wide receiver Roddy White fired off the following tweet.

“All them jurors should go home tonight and kill themselves for letting a grown man get away with killing a kid,” White tweeted.

One day later, White apologized for his ‘extreme’ tweet.

“I understand my tweet last nite was extreme,” White wrote Sunday. “I never meant for the people to do that. I was shocked and upset about the verdict. I am sorry.”

The NFL announced it would not comment on the Zimmerman verdict.
