(CBS) – A Blue Island man who was out boating with friends went missing Thursday, prompting rescue agencies to search Lake Michigan.
Michael Janko, 50, and his friends jumped into the water for a swim near Whihala Beach in Whiting, Ind. Thursday afternoon, the U.S. Coast Guard said.
The man was reportedly not wearing a life jacket. An emergency call drew the Coast Guard and assisting agencies, including the Lake County, Ind., Sheriff’s Department, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources and the Hammond Fire Department.
