(CBS) – The Cubs were rumored to be sending pitcher Mat Garza to the Texas Rangers on Friday for prospects, but Fox Sports Ken Rosenthal reports the trade hit a snag.

Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi reported the Cubs and Rangers discussed several prospects, including right-handed pitcher C.J. Edwards and third baseman Mike Olt.

Edwards, 21, is 8-2 with a 1.83 ERA, with 122 strikeouts for Single-A Hickory.

Olt, 23, is batting .215, with 10 HR and 28 RBI in the minors this year, splitting time between AA Frisco and AAA Round Rock. He’s a career .268 hitter with 62 HR and 199 RBI in four seasons in the minors.
