South Side Woman Is County's Third Heat-Related Death Of Season
(STMW) -- A woman's death Friday at her Auburn Gresham home on the South Side was heat-related, an autopsy has determined.
Hazel Perisee, 62, died at her home in the 1800 block of West 79th Street at 1:34 p.m. Friday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
An autopsy Saturday found Perisee died of cardiovascular disease and heat stress was a contributing factor, according to the medical examiner's office.
The temperature Friday reached a high of 96 degrees in Chicago at 3:25 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
Perisee's death is the third heat-related death of the season in Cook County.
Anne Spears, 71, died Thursday at her Washington Heights home and an autopsy found heat stress was a contributing factor. Ronald Guyton, 36, died June 25 after falling ill at work. An autopsy found he died of heat stroke, and obesity was a contributing factor.
