Boy, 3, Killed By Vehicle On SW Side

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A motorist was arrested after striking and killing a 3-year-old boy in the Southwest Side Archer Heights neighborhood late Saturday.

The boy was hit about 10:25 p.m. in the 3900 block of West 47th Street, police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada said.

The boy, 3, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead at 11:11 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. His name was not released pending notification of relatives.

The driver is in police custody, Estrada said. Further details were not immediately released Sunday morning.
