Boy Rescued From Sand Dune Could Be Released From Hospital Friday

(CBS) -- The family of the 6-year-old boy who was buried for hours spoke today during a church service.

Nathan Woessner fell in a sand hole at the Indiana Dunes in Michigan City July 12. He spent more than three hours buried under 11 feet of sand.

Today, Nathan's brother spoke about his dramatic rescue. He says he used his bare hands to try and dig his brother out until rescuers came.

"I'm really thankful for all the people who helped dig him out, and all the people who were taking care of him in the hospital," said Jake Reul, Nathan's brother. "I was just crying and praying to God, let me have a brother, because I was thinking I wasn't going to have a brother anymore."

Nathan's grandfather, a Baptist minister, showed pictures of Nathan during church service today. The grandfather says Nathan is expected to be released from the hospital on Friday.
