CHICAGO (CBS) -- The 6-year-old boy buried underneath an Indiana sand dune for three hours is continuing to make a remarkable recovery.

The University of Chicago Hospitals released two pictures of Nathan Woessner on Monday.

Nathan fell into a large hole on Mt. Baldy, a popular destination at the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore.

"Nathan is listed as in good condition and continues to improve," said Dr. Diana Mitchell of the University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children's Hospital.

"He returns to a regular diet today and can leave his room to visit the playroom."

Rescue workers managed to dig him out, and he somehow survived in an air pocket underneath about 11 feet of sand.
