Man Critically Wounded When Argument Ends In Gunfire

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 34-year-old man was in critical condition early Tuesday after a verbal confrontation took a violent turn and he was shot in the back in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood.

Police said the 34-year-old was outside, arguing with another man in the 6300 block of South Rockwell Avenue about 11:40 p.m. on Monday, when the other man pulled out a handgun and opened fire.

The 34-year-old was shot at least once in the back, police said.

He was taken to Advocate Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, where he was listed in critical condition early Tuesday, police said.

No one was in custody as Area Central detectives investigated. The shooter was seen fleeing the scene on foot after the shooting.
