Bill Daley Makes Bid For Governor Official
CHICAGO (CBS) -- It's official: Former U.S. Commerce Secretary and former White House chief of staff Bill Daley says he's not exploring anymore -- he's definitely running for governor of Illinois.
The Democrat's campaign on Monday unveiled a video online in which Daley says flatly, "There is no exploratory piece in this anymore."
Daley, brother of former Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley, has criticized incumbent Democrat Pat Quinn and lawmakers for failing to solve the pension crisis and failing to pass a state same-sex marriage law.
Daley's campaign says he'll file the paperwork Tuesday with the Illinois State Board of Elections.
Quinn has said he'll run for re-election -- and, so far, at least four Republicans are also in the race.
