Woman Hailed As Hero For Preventing Abduction Of Girl, 12

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A little girl was being stalked by a man outside a grocery store, and a quick-thinking customer helped police catch him.

Betty Brewer was heading home from an overnight shift when a little girl about to buy an icy pop and said: "There was a man saying he was going to take her home.

A man caught was seen on surveillance camera allegedly positioning himself to take the little girl.

"When he said 'I'm about to take you home,' it made me feel like why would he want to take me home if ... I don't know you?" said Reniah Eubanks, the 12-year-old girl.

"She came out and said, 'That's him right there.' So I said what are you doing?" said Brewer.

"I got a 10 year old granddaughter, yeah I gotta problem with that," said Brewer.

"I was a little scared because i didn't know what was going to happen," said Eubanks.

Now, Abraham Pierre, 52, is jailed on a $100,000 bail and charged with a felony of child abduction and luring.

"I didn't know her, but I really thank her because she didn't have to do what she did but she did," said Eubanks.

"I just wanted to make sure the little girl was safe, that's all," said Brewer.
