Man Shot, Critically Wounded In South Chicago

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was critically injured in a shooting Wednesday night in the South Chicago neighborhood.

The man, 27, was shot about 9:20 p.m. in the 8500 block of South Oglesby Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.

Witnesses told officers they heard gunfire and ran outside, where they found him lying on the ground, shot in the neck and chest, police said.

He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition, Greer said, citing preliminary information.

Area South detectives are investigating.
