Downstate Man Charged In 2007 Murder In South Shore

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A downstate Illinois man was denied bond Friday for allegedly fatally shooting a teenage boy in the South Shore neighborhood in 2007.

Carl Morris, 28, of the 600 block of Harrison Drive in Quincy, was charged with one count of first-degree murder, police said.

Judge Adam Bourgeois ordered Morris held without bond Friday, said Cook County State's Attorney's office spokeswoman Lisa Gordon.

Morris is accused fatally shooting a 17-year-old boy during an argument in the 7900 block of South Paxton Avenue at 2:01 a.m. May 23, 2007, police said.

He was arrested Thursday in downstate Quincy, police said.

Morris will be back in court Sept. 5, according to the state's attorney's office.
