(STMW) — Police have released photos of an SUV that fatally struck an elderly pedestrian in the West Ridge neighborhood Tuesday evening in a North Side hit-and-run.

Norman Davis Esho, 83, was in a crosswalk in the 2800 block of West Devon Avenue at 6:22 p.m. Tuesday when the SUV hit him, authorities said.

Esho was taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he was pronounced dead at 7 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

The SUV is described as a maroon or red full-size Chevrolet or GMC-type vehicle with shiny custom rims; it drove away south on California Avenue after the crash, police said.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has seen a vehicle matching the description should call the Major Accident Investigation Unit at (312) 745-4521.
