Woman Hurt In Accidental South Shore Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A woman accidentally shot herself when a gun went off during a fight early Saturday in the South Shore neighborhood.

The woman was in a fight in the 7800 block of South Constance Avenue about 2:50 a.m. when a gun she was carrying accidentally went off, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.

She was shot in the chest and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where she is in "stable" condition early Saturday, Alfaro said.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
