2 Dead, 14 Wounded In Weekend Shootings

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man and a teen boy were killed and 13 other people, including an 11-year-old girl, were wounded in shootings thoughout the city over the weekend.

A 33-year-old man was fatally shot in the South Chicago neighborhood Sunday afternoon, authorities said. The man was shot in the head in the 2900 block of East 91st Street about 3:05 p.m., police said. He was pronounced dead at John H. Stroger Jr. hospital of Cook County at 4:05 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

A 14-year-old boy died after he was shot in the 4000 block of West Wilcox Street about 12:20 a.m. Sunday, authorities said.

The boy was standing outside with a group of people when he heard shots ring out and felt pain, police said. He was taken in critical condition with a gunshot wound to his chest to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died at 9:04 a.m., according to the medical examiner's office.

About 4 a.m. Sunday , an 11-year-old girl was shot in the 2300 block of North Kostner Avenue, police said.

She was sitting on the front porch of a 2 1/2-story apartment building with members of her family when an unknown female approached and opened fire, authorities said.

The girl was taken to Lurie Children's Hospital in serious condition, though she has stabilized, according to Fire Media Affairs.

A 37-year-old man walked into a hospital after being shot in the 9500 block of South State Street in the Roseland neighborhood about 5:50 a.m. Sunday, police said.

He was listed in "stable" condition at St. Bernard Hospital with gunshot wounds to the right shoulder and the left arm, police said.

Three men were shot 5:30 a.m. Sunday on the Near West Side in the 300 block of South Green Street, police said.

A 22-year-old man was taken in serious condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital with a gunshot wound to the right side of his torso, police said. A 20-year-old man was shot in the leg and taken in "stable" condition to Mount Sinai Hospital. A 21-year-old man is listed in good condition after droving himself to Mercy Hospital with a gunshot wound to the left forearm.

At least one man has gang affiliations, police said.

Two men were standing on the sidewalk in the 5600 block of South Wabash Avenue in the Washington Park neighborhood at 3:25 a.m. when an unknown armed male opened fire, police said. The men, ages 28 and 29, were both shot in the knee and taken in "stable" condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County.

The man, an adult whose age was not immediately known, was shot in the abdomen just before 3 a.m. Sunday in the 5500 block of South Sacramento Avenue on the Southwest Side, police said. His condition and hospital information were not immediately known.

An armed male shot a 53-year-old man at 11:20 p.m. Saturday in the 4500 block of South McDowell Avenue in the South Side Back of the Yards neighborhood, police said. He was taken in serious condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County with a gunshot wound to the left side of his torso.

An 18-year-old man was shot in the leg in the 6400 block of South Martin Luther King Drive about 4 p.m., police said. He was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in "stable" condition, police said.

Just minutes earlier, two men were shot in the 7800 block of South Langley Avenue in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood. One man, 29, was shot in the stomach and another man, 22, was shot in the leg, police said. Both were taken in serious condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

A half hour earlier, a 36-year-old man was shot in the leg in the 6700 block of South Rhodes Avenue in the Woodlawn neighborhood, police said.

He was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center in "stable" condition.

No one is in custody for any of the shootings are area detectives investigated.
