CHICAGO (STMW) — A man was fatally stabbed early Saturday in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood on the Northwest Side.
The 21-year-old man was on the sidewalk in the 5600 block of West Barry Ave. about 2 a.m. when four males approached and stabbed him multiple times, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.
He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 2:47 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
The medical examiner’s office was not releasing the man’s identity Saturday morning pending notification of his family.
The shooting may have stemmed form an earlier fight, Mirabelli said.
Area North detectives are investigating.
