Body Found Wrapped In Tarp Inside West Garfield Park Home

CHICAGO (STMW) -- The death of a person whose body was found wrapped in a tarp inside a home in the West Garfield Park Monday afternoon has been ruled a homicide.

The body was found wrapped in a tarp inside of a closet in a home in the 4400 block of West Wilcox Street, a source said.

An autopsy conducted Tuesday determined the cause of death to be multiple injuries resulting from a physical assault and ruled it a homicide, the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said.

The age and gender of the unidentified person have not yet been determined, according to the medical examiner's office.

The body was found about 5:06 p.m. Monday, police said.

Area North detectives are investigating.
