(CBS) Scott Baker will finally make his Cubs debut Sunday.
Baker, who missed all of the 2012 season with an elbow injury, has been on the 60-day disabled list all season following Tommy john surgery.
The Cubs signed Baker, 63-48 in his career, to a one-year deal worth $5.5 million.
“Obviously it has been a long while (2011) since I started a major league game, so there’s a lot to be excited about,” Baker told the Tribune Friday after throwing a bullpen session. “Regardless of the results, I think you go out there and do the best you can and definitely enjoy it, because you never know when things are going to be taken away from you. You definitely appreciate each and every start.”
