Police Warn Of Hyde Park Robberies

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Police are searching for a man suspected of breaking into and robbing several Hyde Park buildings on the South Side.

The man breaks into buildings through a back door or window and steals laptops, televisions, currency, jewelry, tablets and other small electronic items, according to the community alert from Area Central detectives.

The robberies happened in the:

-5200 block of South Drexel Boulevard

-5200 block of South Greenwood Avenue

-1000 block of East 53rd Street

-5100 block of South Ellis Avenue

-5100 block of South University Avenue

-5400 block of South University Avenue

-800 block of East 52nd Avenue.

The robber is described a 6-foot black man, about 150 pounds with a braid and wearing a white t-shirt.
