Police Warn Of Robberies In West Loop

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police seek two thieves who have been robbing people over the past week in the West Loop.

The victims are distracted, sucker punched, and then robbed of smart phones, purses or wallets.

The first occurred last last Wednesday night on the 1200 block of West Randolph Street. The second occurred mid-morning Friday on the 800 block of West Randolph Street and the third that afternoon on the 1000 block of West Lake Street.

The Guardian Angels are leafleting in the area. They are urging people in the area to be aware of what's going on nearby by putting away headphones and cell phones and not speaking with strangers. They are also urging smart phone owners to activate tracking devices on their phones.

The robbers are described as 16-to-20 years of age, with dark complexions and dreadlocks. They are between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-11 and weigh 125 to 170 pounds.
