Body Found After Police Dig In Scottsdale Neighborhood

(CBS) – Police recovered a body Friday after they excavated a back yard the Scottsdale neighborhood.

A blue tent had been set up at a property at 83rd and Scottsdale. Investigators dug in white hazmat-like suits, some with masks on. Only residents with identification were being let in and out of the block.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said the body pulled from the property was that of a white male.

Neighbors expressed concern and bewilderment.

"It's surreal. I can't believe what's going on right here," Denise Ceplawskes said.

Locals say the family living in the home sodded the back yard last spring.

They say police arrived Friday morning and returned in the afternoon – with shovels.

Police declined to offer much information, other than to say it was related to a death investigation.
