Bears DT Stephen Paea Will Not Play Against Saints

By Adam Hoge-

SOLDIER FIELD (CBS) The Bears depth at defensive tackle took another hit Sunday morning when Stephen Paea was declared inactive against the Saints.

Paea suffered a turf toe injury last week against the Lions and did not practice all week. He told reporters Friday he was planning on playing, but head coach Marc Trestman said it would depend on how he checked out before the game.

With Paea out, rookies Zach Minter and David Bass are active for the first time this season. Minter is an undrafted defensive tackle out of Montana State, while Bass was taken in the seventh round by the Oakland Raiders out of Missouri Western State. He's a defensive end, but Trestman said he received some work inside at tackle this week. Bass got the nod Sunday over rookie Cornelius Washington, who only plays outside at defensive end.

Landon Cohen, who was signed 48 hours before last week's game against the Lions, will start in Paea's place.

Meanwhile, rookie wide receiver Marquess Wilson is active for the first time in his career. Surprisingly, tight end Steve Maneri is inactive. Here's the full list of inactives for both teams.
