Baez Ranked Third Among FSL Prospects
(CBS) Though the Major League product may be dreadful, the Cubs certainly have something going in the Minors.
The results from a survey of managers and scouts conducted by Baseball America are in, and Cubs shortstop Javier Baez ranks third in the Single-A Florida State League.
The 20-year-old Baez slugged 17 home runs and 57 RBIS in 299 at-bats for Single-A Daytona. Baez was later promoted to Double-A Tennessee, where he hit 20 home runs in just 54 games.
Twins outfielder Byron Buxton and third baseman Miguel Sano were ranked first and second, respectively.
Cubs outfield prospect Jorge Soler was ranked eighth, with pitching prospect Pierce Johnson coming in at 15th.
