Northwestern Sells Naming Rights To AD's Job

(CBS) Everything is for sale.

Northwestern University made that clear when it announced Monday that athletic director Jim Phillips' job will now be officially referred to as the "Chris and Courtney Combe Vice President for Athletics and Recreation," after the couple donated $16 million to the University.

"We are extremely grateful for this extraordinary gift and for Chris and Courtney's commitment to the long-term success of our athletics programs," Phillips said in a statement.

$10 million of that donation will be used to fund the AD position and "seed(ing) important projects and address(ing) new opportunities."

"We share the value Northwestern places on educating student-athletes in the classroom as well as on the athletic field," Mr. Combe, a university trustee, said in a statement.
