Former Bears QB Blanchard To Work Out With Chiefs

(CBS) Former Bears quarterback and Lake Zurich native Matt Blanchard is headed to Kansas City for a workout with the Chiefs.

Blanchard, who played college ball at Wisconsin-Whitewater, received an injury settlement from the Bears after breaking his left hand (non-throwing) during the team's third preseason game.

The Tribune reports Blanchard was given full medical clearance on Monday.

The Bears reportedly wanted to re-sign Blanchard, but since he was given an injury settlement, NFL rules prohibit him from signing with them until after Week 10.

The Bears currently have only two quarterbacks on their 53-man roster.
