8 Hurt When CTA Bus Makes Sudden Stop

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Eight people were sent to the hospital Wednesday morning, after a CTA bus made a sudden stop to avoid a crash downtown, injuring several passengers.

Police said the bus driver hit his brakes to avoid a collision with a taxicab at Michigan Avenue and South Water Street around 8:45 a.m.

The bus did not make any contact with the cab, but eight passengers were slightly injured when they were tossed about the bus due to the sudden stop.

Four people were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and four others were taken to Mercy Hospital & Medical Center.
