Local Sand Sculptor To Help Build Sculpture Park In Kuwait

WOODSTOCK, Ill. (CBS) -- A far northwest suburban man has turned what's considered child's play into an international career.

WBBM Newsradio's Nancy Harty reports professional sand sculptor Ted Siebert moved to Woodstock 20 years ago, because it's close to airports, and nowhere near a large body of water.

The Northwest Herald quotes the 55-year-old owner of The Sand Sculpture Company as saying he doesn't want to live near the beach, because sand is his profession.

Siebert, a seven-time world record holder for splits his time between Midwest shows, and on the road to places like Kuwait, where he's working with others on 30,000 tons of sand, as part of an Arabian Nights-themed sculpture park.

You can see photos of his work on his company's website.
