New York is at or near the bottom in nearly every statistical category, including Eli (Don’t call me Blaine Gabbert!) Manning’s 65 passer-rating due to 12 picks. Of course, the Bears have issues of their own, which is why the Vegas 8-point line seems on the short side. They won’t show this one at any camps for prospective offensive and defensive linemen. That bodes well for Bears’ limp running game and pass rush. Jazzman Dick Wellstood called me the other day and berated me for my Bears pick last week. He was right. I’ll go with the flow here.

The Giants definitely have the talent to be much better and much more dangerous than their 0-5 record suggests, but they haven’t been at any point this season. This is one the Bears should win handily, maybe starting a bit sloppy but pulling away late. Last week, I made the mistake of going with a gut feeling. This week, it’s back to what I see on tape, which is this: the Giants are awful. This is a classic game the Bears’ D thrives on. They’ll get at least one defensive TD. Hester may get one too. The turnover magic returns, against the most giving team in the NFL. There will be a Peanut FF, a Tim Jennings INT, and a, wait for it, Shea McClellin sack-fumble. Cutler abuses that terrible secondary, throwing TDs to both Alshon and BM.
Record: 4-1 Record: 3-2 Record: 4-1

I’ve lost trust in the Bears offense and never really had it in their defense. Luckily for them, the schedule-makers are helping them out this week. There’s no excuse for losing to the Giants at home. The Bears will put together a complete game in a convincing win over the Giants. Devin Hester makes a difference… The Giants are awful and the Bears are kind of good sometimes. That pretty much sums it up.
Record: 4-1 Record: 4-1 Record: 3-2

As depleted as they are up front, the Bears’ takeaway-happy defense will feast on turnover prone Eli Manning. The Bears survive a quick turnaround and a avoid a Giant collapse. The Giants are a desperate team with nothing to lose. Their issues this year are vast, but boil down to personnel miscalculations along the offensive line, running back, and linebacker. The Giants cough the ball up more than any team in the league and that spells 0-6 for the G-men. Brandon Marshall will get his against a limp N.Y. defense. But ‘handle the winless Giants with care’ … or else.
