Transit Rider Files Ventra-Related Lawsuit Against CTA

(CBS) – The CTA's new Ventra fare system has its fair share of problems, and now one frustrated rider is filing a class-action lawsuit.

The Ventra card is supposed to replace all other CTA fare cards. However, it's been slow coming online, with numerous technical glitches that include problems loading fare credits on the card.

A CTA bus rider has filed a federal lawsuit alleging breach of contract and consumer fraud. Among his complaints, he says he was wrongly charged for making calls to the CTA's customer service center. He also says he was charged twice for one ride.

The CTA denies the rider was charged for using the customer-service line. Transit officials say the rider was not charged twice, based on electronic records.

The CTA declined further comment.
