Longtime WBBM Newsradio Voice Bob Sanders Dies

Longtime WBBM Newsradio Host Bob Sanders Dies

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Longtime WBBM Newsradio listeners will remember the name and the voice, but now he's gone.

A voice on WBBM 780 for nearly three decades, Bob Sanders, 89, died Sunday near Lake Geneva, Wisc., after battling a long illness.

Sanders is best known as half of the husband-and-wife team of Bob and Betty Sanders, who anchored news and did feature interviews on WBBM from 1972 to 1982.

He started at WBBM in 1956, when it was still a music station, then teamed up with his wife, Betty, in 1972.

Visitation for Sanders will be Thursday at Derrick Funeral Home in Lake Geneva. His funeral will be Friday at Linn Presbyterian Church in Lake Geneva.
