Two Men Shot Dead In Roseland
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two men were killed Wednesday afternoon during a gang-related shooting in the Far South Side neighborhood of Roseland.
William Aikens, 28, and Martellis Griffis, 22, both died within minutes of the 3:20 p.m. shooting, authorities said.
The two were outside Griffis' home, in the 10500 block of South Lafayette Avenue, when shots were fired, authorities said.
Who was responsible for firing those shots remained unclear Thursday morning.
Griffis collapsed outside his residence and was pronounced dead at 3:35 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
Aikens, who lived in Austin in 1700 block of North Lotus Avenue, was also shot several times, according to the Medical Examiner's office.
After Aikens was shot, he ran to a vacant lot in the 10500 block of South Perry Street where he collapsed. He was pronounced dead there at 3:30 p.m., according to the Medical Examiner's office.
Area South detectives were investigating.
