Air Hockey Championships Coming To Naperville This Weekend

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (CBS) -- A world championship competition is being held in the Chicago area over the next few days, and – believe it or not – you have a chance to take part in it.

WBBM Newsradio's Bernie Tafoya reports the Air Hockey World Championships will feature several dozen of the best air hockey players from the U.S., and a few other nations, in a series of tournaments at the Brunswick Zone in Naperville.

Sponsor Mark Robbins said anyone can play, with an entry fee of $20 for beginners, and higher fees for experienced players.

"You do not have to give up your day job. In fact, I wouldn't recommend it.," he said. "It's a great exciting sport. There are no concussions, no foul play."

The purse for this weekend's competition is a total of $7,500.
"It doesn't take 8-hours-a-day practice. It does take some good conditioning, good reflexes, dedication," Robbins said.

Test your skill, or just go and watch the world championships through Sunday at the Brunswick Zone in Naperville.
