Teen Charged In Fatal Shooting In May

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A Greater Grand Crossing man has been charged with killing one man and wounding another in a May 2013 shooting in the Back of the Yards neighborhood.

Charles Moore, 18, was arrested Tuesday and charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder, according to police.

Moore fatally shot 22-year-old Jarell Dotson and wounded a 25-year-old man about 12:30 a.m. May 15 in the 6300 block of South May Street, authorities allege.

The victims were riding in a car when a gunman emerged from a gangway and opened fire on the car, authorities said at the time.

They were taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where Dotson died from multiple gunshot wounds to the head, chest and arm, authorities said.

The 25-year-old man was shot in the left shoulder, police said.

Moore, of the 300 block of East 68th Street, is expected to appear in bond court Thursday.
